Ways to Give Your Dog Their Supplements
Can you suggest ways for my pet to take the K9 Immunity capsules and can they be opened and spread over food? What about the K9 Transfer Factor and K9 Omega Fish oil products?
While the K9 Transfer Factor is a liver flavored tablet, the K9 Immunity is a capsule. Most dogs will take the K9 Transfer Factor readily, but many dogs won’t just take a capsule. The K9 Immunity capsules may be opened and spread over food or hidden in cheese, hot dogs, liverwurst or any product your pet will readily eat. We had luck with Rosie when we made it a game. We would toss her a few bites of hot dog or cheese without the capsules, and then slip in several bites with them in it. We tossed it so she would just catch it and not have a chance to smell or think about it before swallowing. If all else fails, you can always give the capsules the way the vets do it where you put it in the back corner of the dog’s mouth and then massage the throat so they have to swallow. Most of hate to do that though especially if your dog is sick.
The fish oil can be given the same way although many dogs like the taste of fish. You can pierce the capsule with a fork or knife and squeeze it onto your dog’s food.

I have been dosing my Lucy with pills she cannot take with her food. I have devised all kinds of tricks. A pat of butter with the pills works. Pour flax seed oil over the pills and hold them out in your hand. Watch your fingers though. For her pills that she takes with food, I have a mortal and pestal for the solid pills and I use that to grind up so I can mix with her food. If its a tasty pill of course, I just give it to her as a treat. Today, I found that I had mixed up some ground flax seed with water and wheat germ so I put some of that in my hand and stuck her pills in it. It is such a small amount that I don’t consider it giving her pills with food. She has not had any stomach upsets because of this. I would much rather she take her own pills than I try to give them to her. I just use what I have available at the time.!
